Walking provides many health benefits!
Walking is easy
and affordable! The Surgeon General recommends that all populations should accumulate at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity on most days. Walking is the easiest way to meet this goal. Walking requires no special attire with the exception of a good pair of walking shoes. It is recommended that each individual should achieve 10,000 steps per day. How many steps do you take each day? To find out, stop by the Human Performance Center in Delaware Hall, room 029 and check out a pedometer. It is free! For more information on pedometers or walking, just call the Human Performance Center at 287-3843 or 287-3847. You can use your pedometer to calculate how many calories you burn during your walk. Download this calculator (Microsoft Excel format) and plug in your weight and pedometer reading.
