Other Options
While training can be an excellent way to develop skills or increase
knowledge it is not the only format for development. In some cases cross
training, job shadowing, interviewing experts and reading books or articles can
be just as effective. This depends heavily on the learning objective
and learning style. In all cases, it is important to identify not
only the development goal and format for learning, but also how that learning
will be used or impact the work of the employee.
