logoColumbus State faculty and staff will soon have a powerful email, web, and collaboration tool that can help you work more efficiently.  The college will discontinue Novell Groupwise and switch to Microsoft Office 365, which includes an email account in Microsoft Outlook.

With your new Outlook 365 account you’ll get a 50GB Outlook inbox, unlimited email archiving, and browser-based access to virtual Microsoft Office applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Lync Instant Messaging.

What once was “Hybrid” is now “Blended”

student on laptopThe Spring Semester 2014 Class Schedule uses the term "Blended" courses to replace the term "Hybrid." The term Hybrid will no longer be used to describe this type of course.

You will also notice that by clicking on courses identified as blended courses, you will see a description of how a blended course is taught.

The general definition of a blended course is an online course with required real-time, face-to-face sessions. Blended course instruction is split between learning activities online and in a specified location, based on course content. To participate in the online portion of a blended course, a student must have basic computer knowledge along with access to a computer and the Internet.

Students may use a computer at home, at a campus lab, a library, or elsewhere. The face-to-face meetings are held at dates and times specific to each blended course. These sessions may be held in a campus classroom, lab or at an external location, such as a clinical site for health-related classes.
