August 17, 2012
Cougar Web and Colleague will be unavailable from 8:30 p.m. Friday, August 24 until 8:00 a.m. Monday, August 27 for Cutover Weekend. Cutover Weekend is occurring at this time to allow the college to make the necessary updates to students’ academic histories from quarter values to semester values to facilitate processes that use cumulative academic values such as Cumulative G.P.A., Academic Standing, and Financial Aid Standards of Progress. With this system transition occurring, it’s crucial that all faculty submit summer quarter grades by the deadline to ensure that quarter grade records are converted. Any assistance with the speedy submission of summer quarter grades will be most appreciated.
Information regarding Cutover Weekend will be appearing soon on the college website and in various forms of communications to students. No registration or application activity can occur from 8:30 p.m. Friday until 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. To accommodate our students, Student Services offices will remain open until 7:30 p.m. Friday and will be closed on Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26.
New process developed for Tech Prep students
Enrolling Tech Prep students has recently been simplified. Students who have completed Tech Prep programs through area career centers or comprehensive Career and Technical Programs can now be directed to Admissions Advisor Amy Barends in order to set up an appointment. Barends will review the student's signed articulation agreement and tell them the next steps to enroll. The new process has been communicated to the directors of career and technical programs at each of the schools with whom Columbus State has articulation agreements. Information can be found on the high school articulation webpage.
Tech Prep students need an original initialed and signed agreement from his or her career center/high school in order to receive articulated credit. After students meet with Barends they will meet with an academic or faculty advisor to finalize their schedules. Articulated credit will post to each student's educational record after the first term of enrollment.
If you have any questions about the new process or if there are any problems, please contact Ben Williams, coordinator of Special Projects in Admissions.
