How Green Are You?person in grass with binocularsColumbus State has committed itself to sustaining the environment for future generations by reducing energy consumption, pollution and solid waste. At work, each of us can do our part every day by turning out lights in our offices, classrooms and conference rooms when they're not in use. Every little bit will help us meet our goal of reducing energy consumption by 20 percent by 2014, as mandated by state law.

Want to know more? Take the National Geographic "How Green Are You?" quiz at to learn other ways you can contribute to making the world a little greener each and every day.

Checklist graphicThis AQIP tool can even help you through the holidays
So, you thought that AQIP didn't have anything to do with the holidays? As it turns out, there is an AQIP tool that most of us use every year during the holidays: the checklist.

Using checklists ensures that you don’t forget that special someone. Additionally, your checklist can be saved and pulled out each year because many of the steps are the same. The same idea applies to “work steps.” How many times have you repeated a complex task, only to forget an important step? To increase accuracy and increase the speed with which a task is completed, a checklist can be an important tool.

To see an example of a checklist, go to the Columbus State AQIP website

Now, if even Santa and his elves use checklists, how about you?
