Reminder: Graduation is Friday, June 8The Spring Quarter Commencement Ceremony will be held starting at 10 a.m. in Veterans Memorial, 300 West Broad Street on Friday, June 8. The ceremony is free and open to the public. Delivering the Commencement Address to the approximately 600 Spring Quarter graduates will be Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher.

British exchange group studies with OTAPA foreign exchange group from Lewisham College of London, England, toured the Midwest for three weeks and chose to participate in hands-on studies at the Orientation to Trades and Apprenticeship Program (OTAP) at Columbus State.

"The lads," as Carol Higgins, program coordinator of the OTAP program calls them, are studying painting and decorating, a three-year course of study at Lewisham College.   Columbus State's OTAP offers hands-on training to help direct individuals into apprenticeships and trade organizations.  

The exchange students learned electrical wiring, masonry, tiling, surveying and drywall installation. Higgins looks forward to possibly sending a Columbus State OTAP student to study painting and decorating in at Lewisham College in the near future.

Mammography screening to be offered June 12Columbus State has arranged with The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute to bring a mobile mammography screening unit to campus to screen women for breast cancer. Mammograms will be performed aboard the mobile screening unit and insurance will be billed.

The mobile unit will perform these procedures on Tuesday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.   Call (614) 293-4455 to make an appointment.

The American Cancer Society highly recommends annual mammograms for women over the age of 40. To be eligible for this screening, women must be: non-pregnant, non-nursing, 12 months since their last mammogram, asymptomatic, have no breast implants, and have had no previous breast cancer. For women ages 30-34, a written prescription is needed and insurance might not cover the screening. Women under the age of 30 are not eligible.

Cashier's Office to change hoursThe Cashier's Office will be changing their hours of business beginning July 1. The new hours are Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additional hours on Saturdays during rush periods will be added as necessary.
