New Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner will be the featured speaker at Columbus State's Women's History Month awards event at 12:30 p.m. March 1 in the Center for Workforce Development's fourth floor ballroom.

In addition to Secretary Brunner's remarks, the event will include a brief awards presentation, in which 10 Columbus State students will receive Outstanding Woman Student Leader Awards.   The awards honor women who have met the challenges of life, serve as role models in the classroom or community, provide advice for others, or serve as officers in student activities or organizations.

Nominations for these awards can be submitted to Director of Student Activities and Athletics Timeka Rashid through Friday, February 23. The nomination form is available on the Web here.

The lecture and awards ceremony are free and open to the public. Students and employees are encouraged to attend and meet Ohio's new secretary of state. Refreshments will be served.

The event is sponsored by the Department of Student Activities and Athletics, Institutional Advancement, and Multicultural Affairs.

AQIP Quick Fixes of the WeekWhat is a Quick Fix?
Quick Fixes are those things that employees agree are pressing issues and that can be done right now.  These are smaller, operational issues that can be accomplished quickly with minimal resources, yet yield noticeable improvements. For a complete list see the AQIP website under the Quick Fixes link at

Quick Fix requested: "Roaches, mice in Union Hall"

Response: Physical Plant conducted a thorough cleaning of Union Hall over Winter Break: Dec. 2006- Physical Plant

Quick Fix requested :   "Repaint parking spaces & walkways"

Response: Spaces are striped annually- Physical Plant

Quick Fix requested: "Security guard at the Dublin Center."

Response: A priority of the Department's work is to establish standards with local law enforcement agencies within which the off-campus site reside to insure prompt response and service.   As staffing levels permit, we do spot check the off-campus sites, supplementing any local police agency patrol.   We routinely check sites for building compliance issues.   We respond to off-campus alarms- Public Safety
