Student chefs prepare White Castle winners

The Hospitality Management Department and a team of four students in the Chef Apprenticeship Major prepared 10 dishes August 18 using only White Castle hamburgers--popularly known as "sliders." The dishes were the top 10 of 106 recipes submitted by the general public in White Castle's annual nationwide cooking contest.

The dishes were prepared in the campus kitchens by the students, supervised by Deane Cobler, and were taken to White Castle headquarters for judging. The winning entrée, "Morning Crave," included 10 burgers layered with cheese, eggs and bread, then baked.

White Castle made a $2,500 donation to the Columbus State Development Foundation in appreciation for Columbus State's assistance.
