Columbus State is beginning plans to celebrate its 50th Anniversary during the 2013-14 academic year. Help us celebrate the auspicious occasion by nominating an outstanding graduate! Among many other activities, we will feature outstanding grads on our website, and some will be compiled to a special 50th Anniversary book as evidence of the tremendous impact we have on central Ohio and beyond.

Smoot Construction Co. is one of the nation’s largest construction companies, and someday it’ll be led by a Columbus State grad. Lewis Smoot Jr. is a senior vice president at the company, which was founded by his grandfather in 1946, and he’s a proud product of Columbus State’s Construction Management program.
Priscilla Tyson earned an associate degree in retailing from Columbus Technical Institute, the predecessor to Columbus State. Her career took her through executive positions at OhioHealth and National City Bank, and now she’s a Columbus City councilwoman. “At Columbus State, I learned valuable critical thinking skills that I was able to apply in the classroom and in the outside world,” she says.
