Westerville classes canceled until 2 p.m. due to a power outage.
Columbus State helped Jeffrey Tucker "dream big," and a video contest helped him show the world.
The challenge was to create a short video on "What is your dream job and how is your college helping you get there?" Tucker's dream job is to work in the film industry, either in entertainment or advertising. In the video, he credits Columbus State's low tuition, downtown location and transfer programs with Ohio State.
Tucker, a 19-year-old graduate of Columbus Alternative High School, is in his first semester at Columbus State. He's planning to transfer to Ohio State through the Preferred Pathway® program, which has allowed him to make it through the first year of college with no student loans. At Ohio State, he's planning to major in Electronic Media.
Tucker made the video with help from the Columbus Museum of Art, where he's served as an intern for the last three years. He helps run an Art Lab program to teach video and photography skills to high school students.
The "DREAM Big for College and Your Future" contest is hosted by GOOD Magazine and Achieving the Dream Inc., a nonprofit organization aimed at helping colleges increase student success. Columbus State joined Achieving the Dream this year.
