Educational Talent Search

ETS classWhat is ETS?

The goal of the Educational Talent Search (ETS) program is to help students prepare to attend the college or university of their choice. ETS is an educational program serving students who are enrolled in any grade from six through twelve and who attend or live in the target areas of Walnut Ridge and Briggs High Schools, Johnson Park, Sherwood, Hilltonia, and Wedgewood Middle Schools.

Select adult students under the age of 27 may also qualify for TRiO ETS services. ETS is funded largely by $217,971 per year granted from the US Department of Education.

One of the federally funded TRiO Programs the goals of the ETS Program are to:

  • Identify qualified youths with potential for education at the post-secondary level and to encourage these students to complete secondary school and to undertake a program of post-secondary education

  • Publicize the availability of student financial assistance available to persons who pursue a program of post-secondary education

  • Encourage persons who have not completed programs of education at the secondary or post-secondary level, but who have the ability to complete such programs, to reenter such programs
