EMPLOYEE BOOK SCHOLARSHIP
I am very excited that we were able to kick-off the Employee Book Scholarship in conjunction with the Development Foundation.   This scholarship was designed by SAC just for our full-time employees to help reimburse up to $100 of textbook expenses.   Because this is a new scholarship, the Development Foundation will match any donations received from new employee donors through December 2007.   If you are a new or existing Development Foundation donor, we hope that you consider contributing to the Employee Book Scholarship this year.   For information on how to donate, please contact the Development Foundation.     Your donation can be a one time contribution or set up through payroll deduction.

COOKBOOK
In order to help fund the Employee Book Scholarship, SAC will be working on a cookbook. We are hoping to include a range of recipes that showcase the talent of bakers, grillers, and unknown chefs from our campus community. We'd like to include some of your good old fashioned "family recipes" that we know exist and are often prized "eats" at departmental pot-lucks. This could be an entree, soup, salad, bread, side dish, or desert. If you would like to submit a recipe for consideration to be included in the cookbook, please e-mail your recipe in Word along with you contact information to saccookbook@cscc.edu. You can also include photos or short stories that go with the recipe that may be used.

ONE COLLEGE, ONE COMMUNITY
We also are working on facilitating a "One College, One Community" atmosphere.   This is being done to ensure all students and employees, regardless if they take courses or work at main campus or are only taking on-line courses will know that we value them and we are "One College, One Community".   Our first event will be themed "Student Success" at the Southeast Center on August 8, 2007.   As we go forward, we will be looking at other ideas to touch every student and employee of the college.   If you or your department would be interested in participating in this event or future events, please contact Teresa Lister at tlister@cscc.edu .

WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT CSCC?
We also began this year inviting our representatives to find out and share "What is GREAT about CSCC?" on an individual level and on a departmental level.   Look for more information on this to be posted to the web site in the future.

letter from the chair...

On behalf of the Staff Advisory Council, we would like to thank all those who supported “One Campus, One Community” events. We especially appreciate the work and support of Institutional Advancement and our Columbus State DX in preparation for these events.

Our staff and students gained valuable information and contact with departments throughout Columbus State, including Academic Advising, Admissions, Counseling Services, Disability Services, Financial Aide, Public Safety, Student Activities, as well as our Diversity & Study Abroad and Grants & Loans representatives. Columbus State representatives were joined by advisors from Capital University and Franklin University.

During these events, students also had the opportunity to ask questions and receive information from Columbus State representatives from the Construction Management, Dental Hygiene and Sports and Fitness technologies. Staff and students were able to obtain information from Mid State Credit Union concerning financial assistance.

The Staff Advisory Council held its first bake sale at the Columbus State Dublin Open House. All proceeds from this bake sale benefit Holidays are for Kids. SAC representatives Betty Richardson and Susan Thomas joined Activities Chairperson Tina Spencer for this event. We want to thank them for their dedication to this project and for bringing it to the Dublin Open House. We also want to recognize the help of Tonja Lawson and all those who donated baked goods for this sale.

Many contributed to the success of our One Community events including Off – Campus administrators and staff, Staff Advisory Council representatives, and CSCC physical plant personnel whose help was greatly appreciated.

On behalf of our students, staff, and faculty; thank you for everything you did to make our Student Success Fair a success for everyone.

Staff Advisory Chairperson,

Teresa Lister
