President Search

The Columbus State Community College (CSCC) Board of Trustees invites nominations and applications for the position of President.

Columbus State Community College is a comprehensive community college of more than 28,000 students and serves Franklin, Madison, Union and Delaware counties in central Ohio. The Columbus campus is located on more than 80 acres in the capital city’s Discovery District. In addition to the Columbus campus and 10 off-campus centers, Columbus State is about to open a second campus in Delaware, Ohio in Autumn 2010.  Columbus State Community College has been dedicated to meeting the educational needs of central Ohio for more than 40 years and is one of the largest community colleges in Ohio. The academic and student focus of the college is within the Learning Systems.  The Arts and Sciences Division of Learning Systems offers the associate of arts and associate of science degrees, in an array of transfer programs that provide the first two years of a baccalaureate degree.  The Career and Technical Programs Division offers more than 140 associate of applied science degrees and certificate programs in 55 areas of business, health, public services, human services, interactive media, computer science, hospitality and engineering technologies.

Learning Systems engages our community and K-12 partners through the Community Education and Workforce Development Division and the Global Campus and K-12 Initiatives.  Columbus State’s distance learning enrollments from Autumn Quarter 2008 were: distance section total enrollments 14,125, unduplicated students taking at least one distance class, 8,965 and students taking only distance classes 3,698.

CSCC service area economy receives roughly $68 million in regional income annually due to CSCC operations and capital spending. Altogether, the CSCC service area economy annually receives nearly $737.2 million in income due to the past and present efforts of Columbus State.

The President, as chief executive officer of the College, reports directly to the Board of Trustees, enjoys broad delegated authority for the administration of the College, and oversees a budget of approximately $132 million. There are over 950 full-time employees and 1600 part-time faculty and staff. CSCC’s President will be an experienced and visionary leader with academic leadership and accomplishments sufficient to command the professional respect of the academic and business communities. Candidates should possess fifteen years of senior management and progressively responsible higher education administrative experience. An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience which includes extensive curriculum development expertise; demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures, the legislative process, fundraising, and accreditation processes are desired.  A Ph.D. is preferred; however the College will consider an appropriate terminal degree.
