Mission:

  1. To support the broad mission of Columbus State Community College, the Office of Academic Affairs, and the Division of Arts and Sciences.
  2. To strive to provide quality educational experiences to all students enrolled in departmental courses.
  3. To provide undergraduate freshman and sophomore level courses in the biological and physical sciences that are equivalent to or exceed the educational experiences that students would receive at senior institutions.
  4. To provide basic related courses in support of technology programs.
  5. To provide general education courses for all students.

General Goals:

  1. Providing basic integrated science courses to students that support the educational objectives and outcomes of the Division of Arts and Sciences.
  2. Providing students with courses that fulfill the first two years of requirements leading to a major, minor, or concentration in a scientific discipline at a senior institution.
  3. Providing courses that enhance and complement the educational objectives of science based technologies by providing basic scientific knowledge and skills.
  4. Providing introductory and basic courses to prepare students for college level course work.
  5. Developing an appreciation of the sciences within the Columbus State Community College Environment.
