What's A Fantastic Friday Visit Like?
The typical Fantastic Friday visit begins at approximately 9 a.m. Start times are flexible and based upon the sponsoring teacher's request. Student buses can drop off their students in the traffic circle on the south side of Nestor Hall. COTA has a bus stop which services the CSCC campus, located a short distance from Nestor Hall.

Students will be met in the Nestor Hall lobby by Fantastic Friday staffers. Students are instructed to BE VERY QUIET while moving in between campus buildings. There will always be regular college classes in session. Schedules are distributed to teachers and all adult chaperones. Students and chaperones get started on the day's activities immediately afterward. Each lab can accomodate 24 students, so larger groups will be asked to divide into smaller squads. The day's activities are chosen in advance by the sponsoring teacher, and each class of students will be rotated between activities. All students will be able to perform all of the activities chosen by the teacher. A sample schedule for a group of 50 students might look like this:
| Time | Team 1 Mr. Jones (25 students) | Team 2 Mrs. Smith (25 students) |
| 9:00-10:00 a.m. | Eyes Have It (Anatomy) | Solving the Acid-Base Mystery (Chemistry) |
| 10:00-11:00 a.m. | Simple Stain (MIcrobiology) | Eyes Have It (Anatomy) |
| 11:00-12:00 | Lunch | Lunch |
| 12:00-1:00 | Solving the Acid-Base Mystery (Chemistry) | Simple Stain (MIcrobiology) |
Each activity is designed to last approximately 1 hour from beginning until final clean-up. All activities are actual college science laboratory experiments, scaled down for younger students! Students typically work in teams of 2 to ensure that everyone gets a chance to participate.
Lunch
Lunch is in the college cafeteria. Three options are available for lunch:
1) Purchase pizza lunch. Pizza (that favorite college food!) pop or juice, and cookies are available for $4 per student or adult. Each student will receive 2 large slices of pizza, a 12 oz. pop, and a snack-size bag of cookies.
2) Brown-bag it and bring your own. Pop, juice and water are available in cafeteria vending machines. Lunches must be stored upon arrival; food cannot be brought into the laboratories. There is on-campus storage available for this purpose.
3) Purchase lunch at the student cafeteria. Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, sub sandwiches, grilled items, salads and soups are just a few of the items available for purchase. The typical cost for lunch is $5-6 when purchased a la carte.
Parking
Limited visitor parking is available on campus. It is strongly recommended that all visitors come in the same buses due to limited parking. Buses must depart after students have been dropped off.
