Associate of Applied Science in Architecture
This two-year associate degree prepares students for
meaningful work in Architecture. Curriculum requirements and
plan of study are listed in the catalog.
Transfer Program
Columbus
State offers a
transfer
option of the architecture program, within which the
student will prepare for a traditional university
Architecture program. This
option will not guarantee entry into a specific program, nor
will all of the technical courses transfer to all
universities. The
option will, however, blend the usual basic program
prerequisites (math, through calculus and two physics
courses) with most of the architecture courses which are
meant to prepare the student with the
solid basic skills of the profession.
Students who are interested in this option should
contact an academic advisor within the Architecture program,
to discuss the options.
Facility
Management Certificate
There
are several courses within the architecture program which
are specific to the Facility Management profession.
This is a specialized area which focuses on
management of buildings within the corporate environment,
and requires a good technical knowledge as well as good
management skills. Completion
of FAC 111, FAC 150, FAC 240, ARCH 270 and CMGT 121, plus
any one of HAC
141, CMGT 115, HRM 121, or ARCH 232 will result in a
Certificate of Facility Management Concentration.
In addition, it is possible to set up a complete ATS
program (see, “Designing Your Own Degree” under Programs
of Study, in the CSCC catalog.) Students who are
interested in Facility Management should contact an academic
advisor within the Architecture program, to discuss the
options.
3-D Visualization Option
This certificate focuses on 3-D computer
graphics, which is steadily becoming more important in the
industry of the 21at century as the preferred method of
presentation modeling.
As such, it is planned that more courses will be
developed to support this popular end of Architecture.
