R.E.A.D tutor joins Writing Center Staff
The Writing Center and the Office of
Disability Services have collaborated to bring
a new tutor to the Writing Center staff to
assist students who are deaf or hard of
hearing. Dayna Moebius from Columbus Literacy
Council's Reading Enhancement for Adult Deaf (R.E.A.D)
program will work in the Writing Center on
Friday mornings, starting January 12. Dayna
has seven years experience in sign language
and ten years in adult literacy.
"Dayna will be a terrific addition to our staff," said Deborah Bertsch,
Writing Center coordinator. "In addition to being a skilled and experienced
tutor, Dayna brings great enthusiasm to her work."
The Writing Center, located in 246 Franklin Hall, provides free one-on-one
tutoring for Columbus State students, faculty, and staff. Tutors work with
writers on a variety of writing tasks, such as essay assignments, resumes, lab
reports, poems, and job applications. Tutors can help with any stage of the
writing process, from generating ideas to drafting and revising.
The Writing Center is open Monday through Saturday. To make an appointment,
call 287-5717, email
writingcenter@cscc.edu, or visit the Center in 246 Franklin Hall.
