Teleconference brings children together from
Ohio and Australia
Professor Rita Bova of the Communication
Skills department hosted an "Aboriginal
Author" project last spring, enabling
elementary students from different continents
to visit by teleconference while listening to
readings from two books about their native
cultures.
Ohio writer Dandi Daley Mackall read from her
book The Legend of Ohio, about one of
the ancient civilizations in the Hocking
Hills. Australian author Lorna
Little presented her book The Mark of the
Wagarl, concerning an Aborigine boy in
Western Australia. The children had an
opportunity to get to know each other and
to sing songs together during the conference.
The Aboriginal Author project was funded by a
mini-grant from the Columbus State Development
Foundation. Complete details about the
teleconference are available through the
Columbus State UPdate newsletter.
