Victim Advocacy Services

Columbus State Advocates provide non-confidential services. If confidential services are needed, the college has licensed counselors on staff who are able to provide those services to students. Fulltime faculty and staff members can access the college’s Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) through Matrix.

Columbus State advocates can provide a number of types of services. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing information on reporting procedures to both on- and off-campus departments and agencies;
  • Providing information on Columbus State educational support resources;
  • Providing information on victim resources available on and off campus;
  • Processing reactions to the crime and listening to feelings and concerns;
  • Addressing specific issues related to personal safety on and off campus
  • Attending appointments or hearing meetings with the victim; and
  • Contacting others on behalf of the victim with their permission.
