Has a faculty member made a difficult subject exciting to learn or helped you succeed where you thought you might not? If you have experienced excellent teaching from Columbus State faculty you can recognize them by nominating them for a Distinguished Teaching Award.

Award nominations from students, staff and faculty are collected throughout the year. Nominees are reviewed by faculty peers and four winners are selected each spring. Submit your online nomination at any time. You can also drop off or mail your nomination at:

Columbus State cookbooks available in the Bookstore

Looking for something new and exciting for dinner tonight? Stop by the Bookstore and pick up Food for Thought: A Recipe Collection. All recipes were contributed by Columbus State staff, faculty and students! Inside you'll find an assortment of 75 unique recipes including soups, salads, entrees and desserts. 

This cookbook is not only a way to share great food, but an opportunity to share in the success of a Columbus State student. A portion of each sale goes to support student scholarships at Columbus State Community College. The cost is just $5.00.

clawdette contestWhenever you head out for summer fun – whether around the corner or across the globe – take Clawdette along. Snap a photo of plush Clawdette at your destination and email it to csbookstore@ to enter the Where in the World is Clawdette photo contest. You’ll be entered to win a $100 gift card to the Columbus State Bookstore. Photos are posted to the Bookstore’s Facebook page. Log on and “like” all your favorites. The photo with the most likes by August 15 will be the winner. (Plush Clawdette dolls are available at the Bookstore for just $9.99.) 

Part time job available in Bookstore

Are you a Columbus State student and interested in a part-time Bookstore position? The Columbus State Bookstore is hiring part-time Work Study employees for one of the following shifts:

Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. with occasional Saturdays (hourly rate $8.00) or Monday-Thursday, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (hourly rate $8.00) 

General duties include:

  • Greet customers with enthusiasm and a smile
  • Assist customers with product selection and general questions
  • Sales floor support and stocking
  • Merchandising
  • Cash register

Public Comment sought

Columbus State Community College will host an accrediting team from Higher Learning Commission in September, as part of the college’s Reaffirmation of Accreditation process. In preparation for this visit, the HLC seeks public comment about the college from its stakeholders: students, alumni, donors and community members. Advising Services offers workshops for student success!

Columbus State Advising Services will offer BLUEprint Student Success Workshops throughout Summer Quarter. The workshops are free and help you build skills and obtain resources necessary to be successful in your personal, academic, and career-related pursuits. Upcoming seminars for July include:

Juggling Roles: Are You Juggling School, Work, and Family? Thursday, July 12, from 2:00- 3:00p.m. in Nestor Hall 012 (Seminar Room C). Learn how to balance it all and how to simplify your life.

Library: Find It Fast! Monday, July 16, from 2:00- 3:00 p.m. in Columbus Hall (Library) 302. Save time doing your research by learning quick and effective research tips.

Tackling Test Anxiety Monday, July 23, from 12:00- 1:00p.m. in Aquinas Hall 323. Do you feel stressed or forgetful during tests? Get strategies for test anxiety.

Transfer Planning 101 Thursday, July 26, from 4:00 - 5:00p.m. in Aquinas Hall 318. Do you know how to transfer? Get tips for transitioning to a four-year college.
