Phi Theta Kappa chapter earns top awards at convention
Columbus State’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa earned two of the most coveted awards
this society offers at the April 16 International Convention held in Nashville.
The Alpha Rho Epsilon Chapter was named one of the top 100 chapters in the Phi Theta
Kappa society. Only 2 of the 39 chapters in the Ohio Region claimed this achievement
for 2011. This ranks the Alpha Rho Epsilon chapter in the top 8% of Phi Theta Kappa
chapters nationally and in the top 5% regionally.
For the second year in a row, the Alpha Rho Epsilon chapter also earned the Distinguished
Honors in Action Issue Award. This award recognizes the chapters whose project entries
scored the highest in each of the ten related areas of study. Last year, the chapter
conducted a panel discussion on the topic of school-aged bullying and harassment.
The panel speakers included experts from Columbus State, the National Association
of Multicultural Education, and local high school students involved in the LeaderSpark
program. Only the top 2% of chapters in Phi Theta Kappa earn the Honors in Action
