The Marketing & Communications Department is looking for students to participate in photo shoots to promote Columbus State as a diverse and exciting place to learn. We are looking for students of all ages, genders and ethnicities to participate in a photo shoot at the Delaware Campus on Wednesday, October 18. You will receive a gift card in exchange for your time. Not available on October 18? Keep an eye out for more announcements — we have more photo shoots scheduled later in the year.

So if you're ready for your star moment, just fill out the form below. To participate, you must be currently enrolled at Columbus State, and you must submit a current photo of yourself – selfies are fine!

Nominate a professor for the Distinguished Teaching Award

Has a Columbus State faculty member made a big difference for you and your fellow students? Challenged and supported you to do your best work? Made a difficult subject exciting to learn? Helped you succeed where you thought you might not? If you have experienced excellent teaching from Columbus State faculty you can recognize them by nominating them for a Distinguished Teaching Award.

The deadline for nominations for 2016-17 is October 31. You can submit nominations through a brief online form or download and submit a paper nomination

Show your #CougarCourage at this year’s Mental Health Fair!

Join Counseling Services at the Mental Health Fair on October 11 in the Nestor Hall Lounges from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You can create relaxation art, dance away your stress, engage in Relax and Learn sessions, and meet with dozens of community mental health providers. October is Disability Awareness Month

Disability Services is celebrating Disability Awareness Month around campus. Here are some special events to check out:

Advisors from CASE, Health & Human Services, and Arts and Sciences will be in Disability Services during the week of October 9-13. Priority registration begins October 9 for students registered with Disability Services, and advisors will meet with interested students to help them prepare for spring registration.

Accessibility: From A to Z will guide you through the different types of assistive technology and devices available to students. The event is October 17 at 1:00 p.m. at the Delaware Campus. Sign up here.

Introductory American Sign Language classes are being offered at the Delaware and Columbus campuses. Visit The Columbus State Hub to register.

Sing for social justice with the Crazy Faith Freedom Choir

Do you like to sing? Do you have a passion for social justice? The Crazy Faith Freedom Choir is open for singers, especially sopranos. The group rehearses at Summit United Methodist Church at 82 E. 16th Avenue on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Contact Robyn Lyons-Robinson at  for information or just come on by. The Crazy Faith Freedom Choir will perform at Columbus State’s Umoja Karamu Unity Feast on Thursday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m.
