Bookstore to be closed for renovation during Spring Break
The Columbus State Bookstore will be closed Monday, March 13 through Saturday, March 18, which is Spring Break—to undergo renovation work. The Bookstore will re-open on
Monday, March 20.
STEM Scholarships available for new students
Do you know anyone who might be eligible for a STEM scholarship? Scholarships and
academic support are available for students pursuing an Associate of Science degree
with plans to transfer and earn a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, math
or medicine. These scholarships are only open to new students planning to enroll fall
semester 2017 (so, brothers? sisters? cousins?) Recipients receive paid tuition for
the first two years of study at Columbus State. The deadline to apply is Saturday, April 1. Learn more at www.cscc.edu/futurescientists.
Portion of 11-S parking lot closed March 4-6
There will be no access to a designated area of the 11-S parking lot from 6:00 a.m.
Saturday, March 4, until 6:00 a.m. Monday March 6. This area contains some handicap
and motorcycle parking. The handicap spaces to the east of the entrance from Mt. Vernon
Ave. will still be available for use as well as handicap parking in 10-H.
Global Diversity Center to hold international transfer fair
The Global Diversity and Inclusion Center will offer an International Student Transfer
Fair for English as a Second Language, F1 Visa, and Deferred Action for Childhood
Arrivals (DACA) students on Tuesday, March 7, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. in the Library Media Studio.
The fair will offer information about transfer options, local and regional colleges
and universities, and more. Students can register on The Hub, or contact Jasmine Marks for more information.
Concert Band to perform Celtic Festival March 7
The Columbus State Concert Band will present “A Festival of Celtic Music,” featuring
Scottish, Welsh, and Irish folk music on Tuesday, March 7, at 8:00 p.m. in the Conference Center Ballroom, fourth floor WD. The concert is
free and open to the public.
The Concert Band, under the direction of Thomas Lloyd, will play familiar tunes such as "The Campbells Are Coming," "The Ash Grove," and
"Be Thou My Vision." Guest artist Mic Trenor will perform a bagpipe solo with the

In recognition of Women's “Herstory” Month, Student Engagement and Leadership and
the Global Diversity and Inclusion Center will cosponsor a free Family Workshop and
Lunch for student parents and their families called “Popsicle Art Adventure,” Saturday, March 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Limited spots are available. The art workshop will be
hands-on and include small art projects to engage families in the creative process.

Peer Advocates needed
Student Advocacy is currently hiring Peer Advocates for the 2017-2018 academic school
year. Do you have the skills, compassion, and drive to fill this student employment position?
Candidates should have knowledge of the Columbus State campus, programs, services,
and opportunities for students, and have an interest in learning about community resources
for referrals. Peer Advocates should possess strong leadership abilities, active listening
and communication skills, an aptitude for problem solving, comfort with public speaking,
an ability to work with diverse populations, and the motivation to learn and help
others in the Columbus State community.
