Volunteers needed for emergency preparedness exercise
Members of the Central Ohio Healthcare Preparedness Coalition will conduct a full-scale,
mass casualty disaster exercise on Tuesday, April 4, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mapfre Stadium.
Your assistance as a volunteer is needed to help make Central Ohio better prepared!
The exercise will test and evaluate emergency response plans of Columbus hospitals,
law enforcement, fire, EMS, and local and state agencies. It will be the largest exercise
ever conducted in Central Ohio with hundreds of participating responders.
Volunteers play a significant role in ensuring the success of an event by creating
a realistic exercise environment. Although the details of the scenario cannot be disclosed,
efforts are now underway to recruit volunteers to portray accident victims. These
individuals will be made up to simulate injured victims. The majority of these roles
will be scripted to aid in character development and role-play. All volunteers must
be at least 15 years of age to participate. A firm commitment is requested when registering
for this exercise. The event will be held rain or shine. To read more or register
as a volunteer, go to http://bit.do/COTS2017.
