The Columbus Scholar House has apartment openings for students

The Columbus Scholar House offers two and three-bedroom apartments in the King-Lincoln District for fulltime college students who have primary custody of at least one child.The rent is based on 30 percent of the student’s adjusted annual income, and applicants must be eligible for Section 8 Housing Voucher program.Applicants also must be enrolled fulltime in college and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.  For more information, talk to a Columbus Scholar House leasing agent at the CPO office, 910 E. Five on five soccer tournament is May 6

The Global Diversity and Inclusion Center will sponsor a 5vs5 indoor soccer tournament on Saturday, May 6, in the Delaware Hall Gymnasium. Generation One Trailblazers offer scholarship workshop April 27

Veteran students help with race

Members of the Columbus State Veterans Organization recently volunteered at the third annual “Run Down the Demons” event at OSU.  The mission of race is to address issues surrounding suicide, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other mental health disorders related to veterans, active service members, and their family members, by providing education, awareness and providing resources. Volunteers from the Columbus State were Tom Wike, Sean Manahan, John Townsend and Ezra Bachochin.

 

Barnett to organize 2018 Honors Conference

Honors Program student Jahmez Barnett was recently elected to serve as the Student Representative to the Executive Board for the Mideast Honors Association. In his role, Barnett will utilize his organizational and leadership skills to help plan the organization’s 40th Annual Conference, March 23-25, 2018, on the Columbus State campus. 

Barnett is an active member of the Honors Program, and is working to complete his associate of science degree in preparation for transferring to earn a bachelor’s degree.
