Two community service opportunities open to all
Cougars for the Community student service club, Student Engagement and Leadership,
and the Connect-2-Complete Program members will team up to serve at Franklinton Gardens
on Friday, July 11, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Franklinton Gardens, 909 W. Rich St., is a nonprofit urban
farm located in Franklinton, a historic neighborhood on the west side of Columbus.
They are dedicated to growing and sharing healthy food, creating beauty in abandoned
places, promoting nutrition and active living, and building community. Volunteers
will be planting, mulching and anything that will help to make the Community Garden
the best that it can be for our community. If you would like to join the fun, please

This service event is open to all who wish to participate!
Cougars for the Community is also teaming up with Columbus Metropolitan Library for
a Reading Buddies event and you are invited! Reading Buddies provides after-school
reading practice to students in kindergarten through third grade. Each student gets
one-on-one reading practice with a volunteer. Volunteers also talk with the children
and their parents about the importance of college. The next Reading Buddies event
will be held Saturday, July 12, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Library’s Parsons Location at 845 Parsons Avenue,

Global Diversity is looking for a few good men
The Male Access Network (MAN) Initiative is a retention and scholarship program offered
by the Global Diversity and Inclusion Department which focuses on character building
and leadership development. The program is intended for male students at Columbus
State who are interested in getting involved on campus, connecting with other Columbus
State students and employees, and receiving mentorship opportunities. Eligible participants
also receive a small scholarship.

You are invited join the PONO Learning Community
The PONO Learning Community provides a safe space for Columbus State students to engage
in an open dialogue about diversity-related topics and social issues. PONO is a unique
program that offers a semester-long transformational journey driven by the experiences
and reflections of the group’s members. You are invited to become a part of this special
community by joining a PONO cohort in the Autumn 2014 or Spring 2015 semesters.

Do you feel stressed during tests? Get strategies for dealing with anxiety so you
can ace your exams! The workshop is offered on Wednesday, July 16, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Library, room 111.
Navigating Cashiers and Student Accounting Services
Learn about Columbus State payment options, debt collection, and the financial impact
of schedule changes. Save yourself hassle and money by understanding the system. The
workshop is offered on Tuesday, July 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Library, room 111.
Money Management for Students
Need to start a budget? Come to this session to learn about the financial building
blocks: savings, budgeting, managing debt, credit, and more. The workshop is offered
on Thursday, July 24, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Library, room 111.

Attend a workshop that will introduce you to professional ways to search for careers
and connect with employers utilizing Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. This interactive
workshop is open to all Columbus State students and alumni on Wednesday, July 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Aquinas Hall 323.
Exploring Campus Resources at the Delaware Campus
So you’ve registered for classes at the Delaware Campus, but now what? This workshop
will answer your questions about where to go for all of your student needs—from parking,
to campus activities and everything in between. Your education doesn’t end in the
classroom, so why should your student experience? Attend this workshop to learn about
all that the Delaware campus has to offer. The workshop is Tuesday, July 29, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in Moeller Hall 135, on the Delaware Campus.
Undecided About Your Major?
Don’t have a major yet? This session will help you find ways to connect your interests
with career pathways. We will feature activities and library resources that will show
you a variety of options that fit with your skills and abilities. The workshop is
offered on Tuesday, July 15, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., in Eibling Hall 201C, and Tuesday, July 15, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Moeller Hall 135, on the Delaware Campus.
