Gospel Ensemble to perform July 10

flyerThe Summer Semester Gospel Vocal Ensemble, under the direction of Emma L. Easton will present "I Made it Through!" on Thursday, July 10, at 7:00 p.m. in Nestor Hall Auditorium. The Gospel Ensemble’s story and song presentation integrates videos created by ensemble participants, dance, and songs that express joy after hardship! The concert is free and open to the public.

Empowerment Day, Job Fair is July 23


Join Columbus State at the 2014 Empowerment Day Resource and Job Fair, Wednesday, July 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Veterans Memorial, 300 West Broad St. There will be many organizations on hand to distribute information on child support assistance, employment and educational opportunities, resource information for the community and military veterans and their families, legal guidance and more! Bring your résumé and dress professionally. This event is free and open to the public with free parking.

Columbus State's somewhat unique CSI class in Criminal Justice received some local media attention last month. WBNS-TV profiled the work students learn in the field at a makeshift "crime scene" for Professor Richard Vade Bon Coeur's class. During the multiple- semester program, students study everything from finger prints and blood spatter to hair and fiber collection. The courses are part of the Crime Scene Investigation Certificate Program. You can see a longer video of this class online here

Ethical Decision Making Workshop offered

This interactive workshop is designed to help students navigate the decision-making process while considering potential consequences their rights and responsibilities. Using group discussion and case studies, participants will reflect on personal values and those of the College to determine how they might move forward in their academic endeavors. The session will be offered on Thursday, July 10, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m., in Eibling Hall 201C.

Having a plan can save you time and money! Learn how to use your Degree Audit Report (DARS) to create an academic plan that will help you achieve your goals. The workshop is offered on the Columbus Campus on Wednesday, July 2, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Madison Hall 225.


Get quick resume and cover letter tips July 9
This workshop will cover what goes into a general resume and what should be in the general outline of a cover letter. If you have a resume and/or cover letter, you are invited to bring them with you. All Columbus State students and alumni are welcome to attend.  The one-hour workshop is offered on Wednesday, July 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Aquinas Hall 323.

Financial Literacy Workshop Delaware Campus: Paying for College at Columbus State
Does paying for college seem overwhelming? Come to this informative session and learn about the different ways to finance your education and pay your tuition at Columbus State. Topics will include: the Financial Aid process, searching for scholarships, how to see your account balance and pay your fees on CougarWeb, and Extended Payment Plan options. The workshop is offered on Wednesday, July 9, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Moeller Hall 111 and 112, on the Delaware Campus.

Join Library staff for a discussion on tablet and mobile device apps that can help you with research, note taking, time management, collaboration, and lots more!  Workshop is Wednesday, July 9, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Library, room 111.
