Email upgrade coming June 14

It’s happening – we’re throwing the switch on the email upgrade Friday, June 14.

Student email is moving from Microsoft’s Live@Edu to Office 365. The transition will begin at 11 p.m. Friday, June 14. The new system will include cool features such as file sharing through SharePoint Online, online MS Office programs for creating and reading documents, instant messaging, and online meetings.

Email will be unavailable through the weekend. Microsoft tells us it may be down for 2-5 days. Make arrangements with your professor if you have to submit assignments. Faculty email and Blackboard will be unaffected.

(The upgrade was originally scheduled for May 10, but was postponed. Columbus State moved to Live@Edu last year, and this was a separate project.)

What do you have to do? Not much. The email login screen will change, so you’ll need to bookmark a new email page. Your old Live@Edu account will still remain, and you can keep it or close it.

Columbus Crossroads update

logoIt’s been some time since there have been any major changes in the ongoing Columbus Crossroads project on I-71 and I-670. That will change throughout the coming year as the project nears completion.

Here are some key changes ahead that will impact Columbus State students who use those highways:

I-71 South- In May there will be a minor lane shift at Spring Street. Then in August, there will be a major lane shift between I-670 and Long Street. That will put the highway in its permanent alignment.

Jack Gibbs Blvd. - You can now enter the I-670 westbound freeway from the entrance ramp off Jack Gibbs Blvd.

Cleveland Avenue- In September: the entrance ramps to I-670 east and to I-71 north and south all open.

Spring Street- In November: The new exits from I-71 south and I-670 east to Spring Street both open.
