Planning to Transfer to a four-year school?
Do you know that Columbus State continually hosts advisors from four-year schools
who can help you plan for a transfer to pursue your bachelor’s degree? Columbus State
will host these visits throughout the Spring Semester. These advisors are an excellent
resource for information about the visiting institution’s four-year degree programs
and can be seen one-to-one if you have specific questions about your plans. You can
always see the schedules for college and advisor visits online at http://www.cscc.edu/services/advising/.
2013 Civil Rights Writing Competition announced
2013 marks the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s March on Washington. Both events serve
as transformational moments for our country’s long fight for not just civil rights,
but human rights. As current events become history, society has arguably become more
distanced from the true meaning and impact of the civil rights movement.
The Departments of Diversity and Study Abroad and Student Engagement and Leadership
(SEaL) want to hear your perspective of the present-day civil rights movement and history’s impact on present-day
social justice successes and challenges. “The New Voice of the Civil Rights Movement”
is an essay contest where you can express your thoughts on the civil rights movement and how the movement has changed--in 500 words or less. Four winners will receive a scholarship to attend the 2013 Heritage Tour, April 2-6, 2013, sponsored by the Columbus Community Relations Commission. The deadline
for submissions is March 8. Read the application for more information and eligibility requirements.
Another improvement to your student email is coming
Your student email is being upgraded from Live@Edu to Office 365, during the week of Spring Break, March 8 – March 16. Your new student email account in Office 365 will include (besides email of course) file sharing through SharePoint Online, online MS Office programs for creating and reading documents, instant messaging, and online meetings. For more complete instructions, visit http://cscc.edu/email.
