This page is designed to provide tips on managing your GroupWise Archive

 

To access your GroupWise archive perform the following step:

 

In your main mailbox select File | Open Archive

 

 

This will show most of the contents in your GroupWise archive.  At this point you can navigate through your mailbox just as you would on the production system.  The GroupWise archive will look almost if not completely the same as your main mailbox.  The quick way to ensure you are in the archive is to check the title bar.  If (archive) appears next to your name then you are accessing your archive.

 

Please remove any unnecessary items from your archive.  You can delete individual messages or multiple messages at a time.  If you have questions on how to perform this please contact the help desk at ext. 5050.  Here are some locations where things may be hidden.

 

Sent Items:

 

The sent items folder by default is not in the archive, however the sent items are archived regardless.  The way you can access these items is to create a sent items folder.  To create a sent items folder perform the following steps:

 

 

 

 

 

 

This will create a sent items folder in your archive.  All sent items will show up in this folder automatically.  You can now remove any items that are not needed.

 

Calendar Items:

 

To access a quick list of all archived appointments, tasks, and reminder notes perform the following step:

 

 

 

You can now see very quickly all archived calendar items and can remove any items that are not needed.

 

Other tips:

 

The most common reasons why GroupWise archives can get very large are due to attachments.  Mail messages by default are not very large.  Attachments can contribute to 90 percent of your archive size.  Please target your focus on removing messages that may have large attachments associated to them.

 

Don’t forget to empty your trash when you are done.
