Where Do You Hang-Out In Columbus?

Columbus Metropolitan Library, Columbus Idea Foundry, Half Price Books

What Was Your Favorite Class In College and Why?

Victorian literature. Literature in general is transformative, but Victorian literature is so interesting because its authors had to convey ideas without explicitly stating those same ideas. Victorian authors (George Eliot, Anthony Trollope, the Brontes) were interested in the ills of society (poverty, women’s rights, the disparity between the economic classes) but could not speak directly of those things. They wrote within the confines of the public and private spheres but spoke about much broader topics.

What Do You Love About Columbus State?

What I love about Columbus State is that it is very student focused. Columbus State continues to be flexible and convenient for the non-traditional college student as well as having a lot of resources to help the students succeed.

What Advice Would You Give To Incoming, New Students?

Pay attention to the details. Sometimes the “big picture” can become overwhelming, but if you focus on the details (one assignment, one paragraph of the paper, one sentence in the paragraph), that can make it all manageable.

Your Current Role At Columbus State and How Your Role Helps Students?

The role of Assistant Director of Admissions Operations and Systems is both student-facing and behind the scenes – I’m able to help students directly by positively cultivating the relationships with the Admissions staff, and indirectly by making sure the Admissions office runs efficiently and effectively.
