Developmental Education Courses Currently Offered Via Web & Hybrid
Note: A Hybrid class meets in a classroom for a minimal amount of time. The majority of your work is performed online. For example, a Dev 031 Pre-Algebra course is 5-credit hours. Students in this course are required to attend class for 1 hour each week and the remaining work is performed online (instructional videos, homework, quizzes, etc.). The amount of time required each week depends on the hybrid course you take.
DEV 0105 Basic Mathematics (A, SP, SU)
2 credits
This term class will introduce students to whole numbers, fractions, and decimals;
study skill activities will build student skills in math study techniques, overcoming
math anxiety, time management, calculator usage, and other topics to assist students
overcome barriers to success in math. The course will also included managed small
group study time and practice designed to improve understanding of math and communication
skills. A scientific calculator is required for the last chapter of the course and
the final exam. Not open to students with credit for DEV 0115 or higher.
Lecture: 2 hours
Prerequisite: By placement exam Lab fee: $4.00
DEV 0115 Pre-Algebra (A, SP, SU)
4 credits
This course will include integers, expressions, linear equations, percents, proportions,
geometry, application problems, rational expressions, and graphing basic linear equations.
A scientific calculator is required. Concurrent enrollment in DEV 0116 strongly suggested
for students unfamiliar with algebra. Not open to students with credit for MATH 1020
or higher.
Lecture: 4 hours
Prerequisites: By placement exam or DEV 0105; minimum grade of “C” Lab fee: $9.00

Independent learning style
You must be able to work independently and take ownership in your work. You must also be disciplined enough to set aside the time necessary to be successful in this type of course.
