Humanities Department
Humanities, the Department
Humanities is the name for the department which includes Humanities and Philosophy courses, as well as Music, Dance and Art courses (Theatre is handled through the Communications Department). Use this website for Humanities and Philosophy courses, and see also the Arts and Music websites.
Humanities, the Courses
Humanities courses consider the arts, history, and philosophy, together with a full range of critical thought about these subjects. The discipline of Humanities is as old as Western education itself, yet these subjects engage the mind in ways that are applicable to any contemporary field of study.
Degrees
We don't offer a degree in Humanities per se, but Humanities an important part of the Arts & Sciences Associate Degree (that degree represents the first two years of a bachelor's degree). Many people also take our Humanities courses to fulfill general education requirements at another college.
