Information Technology Support Technician Major (ITST) 2016-2017

ITST 1101 Industrial Applications & Software (A, SP, SU) 2 credits

An introductory Industrial Applications and Software computers) course as it relates to the Engineering Department Students and Industry. The course introduces computer technology critical to the subsequent success in studies related to Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Logistics, Manufacturing, Distribution, and Automation Industries.

Lecture: 1 hour - Lab: 3 hours

Prerequisite: Placement into ENGL 1100 and MATH 1010 or DEV 0114 with a minimum grade of "C" Lab fee: $20.00

 

ITST 1102 Industrial Network Communications (A SP, SU) 2 credits

An introductory Industrial Network + Data Communication course as it relates to the Information Technology, Computer Science, Logistics, Distribution, Engineering, Electrical Mechanical and Mechanical Industries. The course introduces communication technologies critical to the subsequent success in studies related to Manufacturing, Distribution and Automation Industries. Topics include, but not limited to: PLC communications, Data Highway, Machine Communication and Security.

Lecture: 1 hour - Lab: 3 hours

Prerequisite: ITST 1101 (minimum grade of C), or CSCI 1103, or CSCI 1152. Lab fee: $20.00

 

ITST 1123 A+ Certification, Managing & Troubleshooting PCs (A, SP) 3 credits

This course covers the domains used for the A+ certification. The CompTIA A+ is the ideal foundational certification to get started on a career working with cutting-edge information technologies. The exam verifies an individual can troubleshoot within operating systems issues with software, hardware, networking and security.

Lecture: 1 hour - Lab: 4 hours

Prerequisite: ITST 1101 Lab fee: $60.00

 

ITST 1136 Linux Essentials (A, SP) 3 credits

This course covers the domains used for the LPI Essentials certification. You'll begin with basic principles of Open Source and the Linux way of doing things, then move on to common user programs such as the command line and text editors. With these skills in hand, you can tackle system administration tasks, such as file and user management and configuration.

Lecture: 1 hour – Lab: 4 hours

Prerequisites: ITST 1101, Lab fee: $60.00

 

ITST 2252 Computer Program Tech (A, SP, SU) 2 credits

This course is designed to instruct students in the use of Python in solving engineering problems. Students will design, flowchart, code, compile, and debug programs in this course. Hands-on experience is gained through interfacing digital I/O boards using Python.

Lecture: 1 hour - Lab: 3 hours

Prerequisites: ITST 1101, (minimum grade of C), or CSCI 1103 Lab fee: $24.00
