Hands-on philanthropy

Students from Prof. Deb Dyer's PC Essentials (ITST 1123) class donated computers to deserving students, combining hands-on learning and philanthropy.

Students in the class learn to fix and refurbish computers as part of the IT Support Technician program. The class helps students prepare for the CompTIA A+ certification, a recognized credential that can lead to a job.

But Dyer's students added a philanthropic twist. The class donated computers to the TRiO program, which serves first-generation and low-income students. The computers were then given out in a raffle.
