Author and prize-winning journalist Wil Haygood will speak and read from his book The Butler: A Witness to History. The book, which developed from a 2008 Washington Post article by the same name,
is a portrait of Eugene Allen's career in the White House under eight presidents.
It's a New York Times best-seller and has already been translated in to six foreign
The book was released in tandem with the award-winning motion picture Lee Daniel's The Butler—of which Haygood is associate producer. The film spent three weeks as number one at the box office, is currently in it's third week of number one in France and is already generating Oscar buzz.
After his presentation, Mr. Haygood will sign copies of The Butler. You may bring your own, or copies will be available for sale at the presentation.

Because the event falls during peak time for classes at Columbus State, nearby parking may be limited. Your easiest option for open space is the 28-S lot, east of the Conference Center on Mt. Vernon Avenue between Nielston Street and 5th Avenue.
