Cougars top golf tournament
Cougars take 1st in Mt. Vernon, led by top-scorer Alstadt.
The Columbus State Golf team is putting together an impressive record this fall.
The Cougars finished first in the two-day Kenyon College Fall Invitational in Mount Vernon on Sept. 29-30. Among individual players on the team, Ash Alstadt ended atop the leader board with a 141, three under par. And Jacob Stasiulewicz tied for fourth with a 151.
Alstadt again came in No. 1 at the Indiana University-East Waterfront Classic in Indiana Oct. 4, with Stasiulewicz ranked No. 4. The Cougars came in second overall in that contest.
The Golf Team plays a split season, with one section in the fall and one in the spring.
They have their eyes on the NJCAA DII National Golf Championship that will be held
at the Goose Pond Colony Golf Course in Scottsboro, Ala., in May 2013.
