As a publicly funded institution of higher education, Columbus State’s Institutional
Review Board is responsible for providing a safe environment for human subject research
at the College.
All research activities that involve the faculty, staff or students of Columbus State
- including Masters and Doctoral projects - must be reviewed and approved in writing
by the IRB before the research is initiated. IRB activities are administered by the
Office of Institutional Effectiveness located in the GT Building.
Columbus State holds Federalwide Assurance (FWA) #00010584 from the Office for Human
Research Protections in the Department of Health and Human Services. This is an agreement
that Columbus State will conduct research according to the ethical principles detailed
in the Belmont Report and the DHHS regulations 45 CFR Part 46.
