Power shut off in Delaware Hall on July 30

In order to install a new transformer at Delaware Hall, facilities will shut off power to the entire building Sunday, July 30. Power will be shut off to the building at 7:00 a.m. and turned back on by 3:00 p.m. The police have their own backup generator so they can continue operations. The rest of the building will be on a separate generator, operating life safety (exit lights, emergency lights, etc.). The electronic entry system that allows access with IDs for staff, faculty and students will only last for an hour or two on batteries and then manual override keys will need to be used.

Real Estate Career Night helps students with professional networking

The Columbus State Real Estate Program held a Career Night on July 13 in the Center for Workforce Development. The event was a great success, with 39 students registered and several Real Estate Brokerage firms represented including Key Realty, eMerge Real Estate, Carleton Realty, HER Realtors, Vision Realty, and Weichert Triump Group.

The goal of Real Estate Career Night is to allow students to network with brokers in the real estate field. These students are nearing completion of coursework that will allow them to take the realtors exam, so it was a valuable opportunity for students to meet employers who could hire them within a few months. It’s a great opportunity for the employers as well. “Brokers tell me that they look forward to coming here each semester,” said Jack Popovich, Program Coordinator of Real Estate. “It is a great recruiting tool for them.”
