New Outlook email is here
Spring Semester has begun and employees are now using the Microsoft Office 365 email system called Outlook.
If you have questions about any aspects of this new email system, you can find answers online here: http://www.cscc.edu/365. There is a menu on the right side of the screen that will help connect your mobile phone to the new system. For additional information as well as training links, log into Blackboard https://courses.cscc.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp using your Columbus State username and password, and click Office 365 Employee Training under the My Organizations tab.
First Wednesday town meeting to be held January 14
The monthly town hall meeting with President Harrison will be held on Tuesday, January 14, at 8:15 a.m., in the Conference Center Ballroom, WD fourth floor.

Columbus State’s 2014 Dr. Martin Luther King Day Celebration will take place on Thursday, January 16, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Conference Center Ballroom, 4th floor WD.
The featured speaker will be Donna Brazile, an American author, academic, and political analyst who is Vice Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She was the first African American to direct a major presidential campaign, acting as campaign manager for Al Gore in 2000. The event is free and open to the public.

Open Forums offered for faculty and staff Jan. 21 and 24
In his campus-wide email last week, Dr. Harrison announced that the College will hold open forums to discuss enrollment, the Revised Fiscal Year 2014 Budget, Human Resources updates and upcoming Title IX and EEO training requirements for employees. Terri Gehr and Kim Hall will conduct the forum presentations on Tuesday, January 21, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. and Friday, January 24, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Both forums will be held in the Conference Center Ballroom, fourth floor WD.

You are strongly encouraged to attend one of the forums. You do not need to preregister to attend one of the forums. Everyone is welcome to attend, and each forum will conclude with a question-and-answer session.
David Tom, Ph.D., associate professor in Psychology, has been named Faculty Fellow for Accreditation, succeeding Greg Goodhart, Ph.D., who led the accreditation effort for two years.
Tom has been an accreditation steering committee member since 2011 and participated in the Higher Learning Commission campus visit in 2012. More recently, he helped write Category Four, Understanding Students' and Other Stakeholders' Needs, for the new Systems Portfolio.
Tom joined the Columbus State Department of Psychology staff in 2003. He completed his doctoral studies in Psychology two years later at Ohio State which recognized him as an “outstanding teacher.”
Tom will lead the AQIP Accreditation Steering Committee which guides the college’s ongoing academic quality improvement process. Included in those duties is the annual selection of action projects and posting related reports, as well as reviewing the Portfolio Feedback Report.
Columbus State’s Application for Admission will be offline for scheduled annual maintenance from 8:00 a.m. Monday, January 13 through 8:00 a.m. Monday, January 27. During this time, all applications will be inaccessible, and prospective students will be unable to create, modify, or submit an application. Those with an unfinished application have been notified.
Now that the January 6 late admissions application deadline for Spring 2014 (for full term, 1st eight-week, and 1st five-week courses) has passed, there is a brief window of opportunity to make updates. These updates will be completed and the application will reopen prior to the late/final application period of January 28-February 10 for Spring 2014 2nd eight-week, 2nd five-week, and 3rd five-week terms. The application for Summer and Autumn 2014 will also reopen at 8 a.m. on January 28.

The Theatre Columbus State play, “A Friday in November” has received five nominations from the Central Ohio Theatre Roundtable, including: Outstanding Production of a Play; Excellence in Direction of a Play (Frank Barnhart); Excellence in Acting/Supporting Role in a Play (Madison Lee); Excellence in Acting/Supporting Role in a Play (Carla D'Errico); and Excellence in Music Design (Bill Darby).
Barnhart, instructor in Theater, also has been nominated for an Excellence in Acting Award in a Musical, for his performance in “Hairspray.” The 2013 Theatre Roundtable Awards will be held on Sunday, January 26, at 6:00 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center.
Staff Council sponsors basketball games Jan. 25
Join the Staff Advisory Council on Saturday, January 25, for the Men’s and Women’s Basketball games against Edison Community College at home. The Lady Cougars begin at 1:00 p.m. and the Cougars begin at 3:00 p.m. Admission is free with your Cougar ID. Staff Council will have giveaways and popcorn at the game!
Time for post-holiday weigh-ins
Were you one of the brave who participated in the Holiday Challenge: Maintain, Don’t Gain? Now it’s time to do your post-holiday weigh-in with the Mt. Carmel representative! Those participants who maintained their weight within five pounds over the holidays will earn a special gift from the Wellness Initiative at Columbus State. Weigh-in dates are:Wednesday, January 15, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. and Thursday, January 16 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Both weigh-ins will be done in Rhodes Hall Room 114. Delaware Campus participants should contact Nichole Bowman-Glover for information about the final weigh-ins.
