Hispanic Heritage Month Multilingual Poetry Reading offered Thursday
Columbus State is in the midst of celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month which
spans September 15 – October 15.
Bring a friend or colleague and join faculty, staff and students as we bring
HHM festivities to a close at the 7th Annual Multilingual Poetry
Reading. The event will be held
in the Nestor Hall West Lounge from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

New Professionals Employee Resource Group launched
The Diversity and
Study Abroad Programs Department hosts Columbus State’s official Employee
Resource Group (ERG) program. ERGs provide targeted networking opportunities
for diverse faculty, staff and administrators. The program builds
relationships and a deeper sense of community between employees.
New Professionals ERG (professionals under 40)
The first meeting
is Monday, October 15, from 12:00
– 2:00 p.m. in the Library Multimedia Studio. The ERG Liaison is
Elise Meyers.

Did you know that October is LGBT
(lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) History Month?
Columbus State will honor LGBT History Month with a special
conversation. Join us for a
World Café inviting campus and community leaders to discuss
Mental Illness in the LGBT Community
on Thursday, October 11, which is
also National Coming Out Day!
Make sure to come out to this event and support our LGBT colleagues and
students on campus and in the community!
The event will start at 6:00 p.m. in The Center for Workforce
Development (WD) Room 409.
Bookstore Pet Supply
Drive extended!
In honor of National Student Day, the
Columbus State Bookstore is offering a Pet Supply Drive, which has been
extended through Wednesday, October
10. Bring in a donation of pet food, supplies, toys or treats and
receive $10 off a purchase of $20 or more though Wednesday in the Bookstore!
The supplies will be donated to a local animal shelter. National Student Day
is designed to promote student social responsibility across America.
Columbus State students have coordinated this activity.
