Weeks of Welcome (WOW) continue!
Week Two of Weeks of Welcome (WOW) continue on both the Columbus and Delaware campuses with a Student “Club Carnival” today, and Welcome Back Day tomorrow from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 4:00-5:30 p.m. The Office of Student Engagement and Leadership will also offer a Cultural Heritage event that celebrates diversity, Thursday, September 6 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the Library. And on Friday, Cougar Athletics will host a Wellness Fair from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the courtyard area! Welcome Back Day and the Wellness Fair will also be held on the Delaware Campus
on Thursday and Friday in Moeller Hall. Week Three begins September 10 with a host of student workshops on both campuses.

Construction program presents BIM Certificates
Construction Management Program co-coordinator Dean M. Bortz presented the inaugural group of Building Information Modeling (BIM) Certificates Thursday, August 16 to four students. Columbus State is the only higher education institution in Ohio offering this four-course certificate program, which crosses Architecture (ARCH 2274), Construction Management (CMGT 2215 and CMGT 2216), and Civil Engineering/Surveying (SURV 1460). Margaret E. Owens, Ph.D., assistant professor of Construction Management coordinates the BIM Certificate Program.
In the program, students learn about BIM and how it is used in construction projects, how the design professional, constructor and owner work together, and how to use this methodology to minimize or eliminate contract modifications and shorten construction schedules.

BLUEprint workshops can help your students
Advising Services will offer a wide variety of BLUEprint Success Workshops to students this Autumn Semester. The free workshops help students build skills necessary to be successful in their personal, academic, and career-related pursuits. This Fall, there will be more than thirty available workshops including topics on basic computer skills, stress management, campus resources, test-taking strategies, transfer planning, degree planning, professionalism, money management, and more. Please encourage your students to attend, and the presenters will be happy to verify their attendance if you would like to offer credit for participation. Learn about OSU's 100+ study abroad programs, how it can fit into a degree and career plan, and resources for funding. Wednesday, September 12, at 4:30 p.m., Aquinas Hall 317.
More Crossroads construction closings
Due to the continued work on the Columbus Crossroads interstate project, there will be three closings Thursday night, September 6, which could impact evening students and staff:
At 7:00 p.m., Cleveland Avenue will be reduced to one lane.
At 8:00 p.m., the exit from I-670 east to Cleveland Avenue will be closed.
At 8:00 p.m., the ramp from I-670 west to I-71 south will be closed.
By 5:00 a.m. Friday, all work will be completed for that night and everything will reopen.

Last year, the Trek Bike Store offered free tune-ups in its car free spot!
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) and partners have announced this year’s Central Ohio Car Free Day festivities on Friday, September 21. Car Free Day encourages central Ohioans to ditch their cars for a day and explore other transportation options.
As part of Car Free Day you will see metered parking spots transformed into temporary parks, exhibits, and other creative concepts to demonstrate what our community could look like with fewer cars on the road. The visual provided by this event is a message of alternative modes of transportation.
A Car Free Spot could be a metered City of Columbus parking spot, a non-metered City of Columbus spot, or a spot in the Columbus State parking lot. If you are requesting a metered City of Columbus spot, MORPC will coordinate with the City to have a meter of your choice bagged for free near campus. No matter what kind of parking spot you’ll be reclaiming, be sure to register it here: Car Free Spot registration. All you need to do is fill the spot with your creative concept between the hours of 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
