Sport & Exercise Studies Makes it Eleven!
Sport & Exercise Studies has been
informed by the American Association of Community Colleges
that for the eleventh year in a row it is the top producer
of sport management graduates (Associate degree) in the
country!

Habegger Named 2009 Finalist for
OATYC Faculty Member of the Year
Sport & Exercise Studies Professor,
Dr. Tom Habegger
was named one of the 2009 Finalists for the Ohio Association
of Two Year College’s Full Time Faculty Member of the Year
honor.
Tom will attend the annual
OATYC Conference at the
University
of Rio Grande
for the awards ceremony in October.

Kay & Bonham Earn Masters
SES-Teaching
Assistant Johanna E. Kay earned her Masters degree in
Strategic Leadership from
Mountain
State
University
in Beckley,
West Virginia
in May 2009!
J.R. Bonham and
SES adjunct instructor in exercise science
earned his Masters degree in Exercise Science from
California University of Pennsylvania in July.

Well it happened!
Finally……………..SES
has a home!!
The
SES
program has moved into its new academic center.
The
new center located on the ground level of the newly
remodeled Delaware Hall includes a new office suite,
conference room, learning lab and two new laboratories for
exercise science and physical education classes.
The program is so grateful to
our chairperson Dr. Mokie Steiskal for all her efforts in
making a 20 year dream a reality for the program!!

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
It is never too early to nominate a
fellow alum!!
The
SES
Hall of Fame committee is requesting nominations for the SES Hall of Fame 2010 induction ceremony.
Nomination forms are available
by contacting Dr. Tom Habegger
thabegge@cscc.edu or
614-287-5422.
Nominees must be a graduate of
the SES program and been an alumnus for over five years.
Nominations of “friends” of the
program or a professional that has made direct impact on the SES program will also be accepted.
Nominations will be accepted
through January 31, 2010.
The inductees will be honored
during the SES Hall of Fame Ceremony in the spring of 2010.

Raises Funds
The 2009 Sport & Exercise Studies
Alumni Golf Outing raised about $500.00 benefiting the
SES
Scholarship program which was held at
noon
on Friday, June 6th at Bridgeview Golf Club (Columbus
State’s
Golf Course).
Thank you to all who
participated!

Associate Professor Eric Welch are heading up the newly
formed SES Sport & Social Club.
The club’s mission is to offer SES students, alumni, and faculty an opportunity to
socialize and professionally network.
Autumn quarter 2009 activities
will be announced soon!

2009 Registration
Course registration for autumn term 2009 begins on July
27th.
Currently enrolled and
continuing students are encouraged to register early.
Strong enrollment combined with
the new student registration processes for the college may
cause delays, so see your assigned sport management advisor
to pre-register.

The Sport &
Exercise Studies Advisory Committee will meet on
Thursday, October 15th, 2009.
SUMMER ‘09 Commencement Set for September 11th
Summer commencement is set for September 11th at Veteran’s
Memorial Auditorium.
The ceremony will begin at
10am.
Approximately 20 Sport &
Exercise Studies graduates are expected to participate.
