Office Security Tips
Columbus State Community College places a high priority on the safety of
its students and staff members. The Campus Police Department strives to
maintain our excellent safety record.
Although uniformed Police officers patrol the campus 24 hours a day, 7
days a week, it is crucial that the campus community take responsibility
for its safety. 90% of campus crimes are crimes of opportunity. You
reduce your chances of being a crime victim by reducing the opportunity.
By watching out for yourself and others, we can all contribute to a safe
campus environment.
-
Do not walk alone on campus at night.
Call Public Safety at 287-2525 for an escort -- or walk
with a group.
-
Stay in well-lit, well-traveled areas. Avoid dark and isolated places
-
Always lock your car. Roll up your windows and keep valuables out of
sight in your car.
-
Mark your personal belongings, especially
your textbooks.
-
If you see something out of place or
suspicious, call CSCC Police at 2525. We want to know.
-
Never loan out your college ID card or
computer sign-on password.
-
Know the locations of emergency phones, campus phones and public phones
where you could call for help if needed.
-
If someone tried to rob you, give up your valuables without resistance.
Your life is more important than your possessions.
-
Do not put your name, address, phone number, license number or other
identifiers on your key chain. This can lead a criminal to you and your
property if you lose your keys.
-
Do not lend your keys to anyone.
-
Never prop open building doors. This is an open invitation to intruders.
-
Do not leave your purse, books, coat or other valuables unattended.
