Orientation to Trades and
Apprenticeships Program (OTAP)

What is OTAP? OTAP, Orientation to Trade and Apprenticeship Programs, is an intense 8 week job training program designed to prepare students for employment in the Trades or acceptance in Apprenticeship programs where they can "earn while they learn," This program has been in existence since 1987 and has very high placement and retention rates among graduates.

Who can attend OTAP?  Men and women 18 years or older who are interested in a career in the TRADES. High school diploma is preferred. Must be able to obtain a valid drivers’ license within 3 months.

OTAP provides: Career guidance, job placement, assistance, resume enhancement, and continuing professional education.

What will an OTAP participant learn?

• Thermodynamics

What high paying industrial/trade opportunities are available after this training?

• Drafter/CAD
• Truck Driver
• Welder

OTAP does not train in any of these specific occupations, but teaches the basic job skills used in all of them. Some careers will require further training/licensing beyond OTAP.
