To apply for admission, a prospective student must complete an
application to Columbus State Community College.
The student will be notified of acceptance.
However, a Supplemental
Application is also required for acceptance into the Chef Apprenticeship
itself and should be directed to Hospitality Management at the college. The supplemental application must be accompanied
by two letters of reference, a 200 word essay on why you wish to
become a chef, a high school transcript or GED certificate, and
a college transcript (if applicable). Deadlines for completed
applications are May 15 for the class to begin Autumn quarter and
November 15 for the class to begin Spring quarter.
Those
whose applications are complete are then scheduled for interviews
with the ACF Columbus Chapter Apprenticeship Committee prior to
the beginning of the program. Preference will be given to individuals
with work experience in the foodservice industry. The applicant
must complete the Columbus State Community College COMPASS Placement
Tests (Math, Reading, and Writing Skills). These tests must be completed
by all applicants except those with college transfer credit in mathematics
and/or English.
Students will not be accepted into the apprenticeship
program until any required developmental courses indicated by the
placement tests are satisfactorily complete; therefore, early application
is recommended. Those selected for the apprenticeship program will
interview with prospective employers; however, work placement cannot
be guaranteed by the College or the ACF Columbus Chapter.
