1. Admission
to Department
The student must be
admitted to the college before enrolling in ECD Classes. See current
College Catalog
for admission procedures.
2. Conditional
Acceptance to ECD Program
- You can gain
conditional acceptance to the ECS program after completing
-
college
admission requirements, including placement testing and
orientation
-
placement in ENGL 101
-
completion
of Change of Technology Form for ECD
3. Formal
Acceptance to ECD Program
The student must have
completed:

| PSY 261 Child Development |
with a C or better. In
addition, the student must:
- have an overall GPA of
2.0
- have 3 approved
references, medical statement, and signed moral statement in the ECD
office.
4. Program
Retention
Students are retained in
the program according to college and department procedures. (See College Catalog.
Students who fail an ECD course will meet with an assigned advisor to
determine the feasibility
of continuing in the Program, and/or consider alternatives.
5. Scheduling
• All ECD courses are "tech
restricted" and require an ECD advisor's signature
and/or approval for enrollment.
• Students are assigned a
permanent advisor with formal acceptance in ECD
• ECD students
must confer with their assigned faculty advisor, to schedule
classes for the next quarter, by the end of week 10 of the current
quarter. During these appointments important discussions for Field
Experience are initiated, as well as a review of student's
progress, questions and concerns related to ECD. (See sample
planning form, next page.)
• Students are
advised to consult their faculty advisor if/when it seems
necessary to drop a course.
