MEN'S BASKETBALL: GET IN THE GAME!
Columbus State’s men’s basketball team started the season ranked No. 4,
following last year’s national title attempt.
Coach Pat Carlisle has five members of last year’s squad back: Marcus Britt,
Rod Hurst, Colin Horn, Kendall Holt and Kyle Codeluppi. “That’s the most
I’ve ever had back on a team,” Carlisle says.
Columbus State posted a 28-4 record last year, making it to the Elite Eight
in last year’s NJCAA Div. II national tourney. They started this year’s
campaign with a Nov. 6 win over Mt. Vernon Nazarene.
“With proper grades, leadership and citizenship, we can do what we’ve done
the last two years,” Carlisle says. “It just comes down to how the ball
bounces when it gets cold.”
Many students spend two years at Columbus State, then transfer on to a four
year college. The basketball team is no exception. Greg LeSage spent last
year playing in Delaware Hall, and this year’s he’s in Div. I with the
University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Columbus State is a great place to build up your GPA, hone your skills and rise to a four-year school. All of our teams play in NJCAA Div. II, making scholarships available to student athletes.
Our men’s basketball team plays its home games in the gymnasium at Delaware Hall.
